The Notre Dame College Department of Instrumental Music is a dynamic organization of musical performance groups that enhance the arts culture on campus. Membership includes participation in all applicable performance arenas based on instrumentation and choice of equipment/ensemble. Bands encompasses active participation in any of the following instrumental ensembles: Marching Band, Concert Ensembles, Pep Band, Jazz Band, and the Notre Dame College Wind Symphony.

 

HONOR BAND FESTIVAL

Friday, February 21, 2020 (Festival)
Saturday, February 22, 2020 (Festival Concert)

Friday-Saturday, February 21-22, 2020. 
$50 per student (includes music, meals, t-shirt, and clinician fees)
Housing is not provided.

 

High School students will have the opportunity to rehearse in an exclusive ensemble with high class conductors, participate in masterclasses with NDC Applied Faculty, and perform in a joint public concert with the NDC Wind Symphony. Students must be nominated for this honor. Instrumental directors should check their students’ availability prior to submitting their nomination. The online Honor Band Festival Nomination Form must be filled out by the high school director and submitted by February 1, 2020.

 

Auditions will be held on the day of the festival. Audition materials will consists of an etude, major scales, and sight-reading. Materials will be emailed in January.

Guest Clinician

Dan Tucker is currently in his 17th year teaching and 5th year as Director of Bands at Lewis Central High School in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Under his direction, the Lewis Central Symphonic Band, Jazz Ensemble, and Marching Band have earned superior ratings at every State Festival. Mr.  Tucker is also an adjunct professor at Iowa Western Community College where he teaches saxophone lessons. Mr Tucker is also an active clinician, and adjudicator in the Midwest. He resides in Omaha, Nebraska with his wife Rachael and two children James and Ryan.

6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.: Rehearsal #1

 

Saturday, February 22nd
9:00 a.m.: Rehearsal #2
12:00 p.m.: Lunch
1:00 p.m.: Masterclasses with NDC faculty
1:00 p.m.: Directors session with Michael Krueger
2:15 p.m.: Rehearsal #3
4:45 p.m.: Dinner (on your own)
6:30 p.m. : Call time for high school students
7:30 p.m.: NDC Wind Symphony and NDC Honor Band Concert
