The Department of Vocal Music at Notre Dame College offers a variety of vocal ensembles for our students, regardless of major and athletic involvement. It is our mission to educate our members with musical tools that are transferable to various academic, social, and artistic interests. Students do not have to have previous choral experience to join.
Ensembles consist of Concert Choir (open to all students, faculty, staff, and community members), and Chamber Singers, Vox Superior, and Glee Club (auditioned).
Concert Choir: Mondays 6:30-8p:
Concert Choir is an auditioned choir that is open to all students. Repertoire consists of the traditional mixed-voice choral structure and is accompanied by piano and/or instrumental ensembles. Concert Choir’s main performances consist of the Candlelight Concert and Holiday Celebration in the fall, the Evening of Sacred Music and Spring Showcase in the spring, and various other miscellaneous performance opportunities on and off campus.
Chamber Singers: Monday/Wednesdays 2:45-4p:
Chamber Singes is an auditioned, mixed voice chamber ensemble that focuses on performing a cappella music. Due to the nature of the music and the number of semester performances, an understanding of music theory and aural skills is necessary for students in this particular ensemble. Repertoire consists from classical to contemporary music genres. Chamber Singers is the institutions primary special events performing vocal ensemble and consists of usually 18-20 singers.
